Actual Convenor's message...

Greetings

What started as an endeavor to start something constructive for the enhancement of the brand name of this college has now become a rage. Kutumbkam, the oh so young and step brother of the convention has been treated just that, a step brother. Doubting thomases have been in abundance but the presence of enemies has, what can be proverbially described as putting a road block in the path of achievement of such a landmark. More marked than everything else has been the presence of rats in the fest committee, those who left at the first appearance of problems in the path towards making Kutumbkam a reality. But here we are, on the brink of what has now become a juggernaut, wreaking havoc on the expectations of people who thought that this would end in failure and distanced themselves from the beginning, in the middle or near the end. I don’t have a habit of naming such people, but I am sure they will know that this mail is directed to each and every one of those back biting and conniving idiots.

However, apart from all the spite that is there for the fools who thought that Kutumbkam was impossible to hold, there is a feeling of gratitude towards those who helped make this a reality. . First and foremost, Pallab Roy, who has been my support, confidant and unconditional supporter for the entire time.  He even corrected some of my mistakes behind my back and ensured that the fest ran smoothly all the while.  The next in line would be Priyanka Aggarwal, the girl who worked very hard to make all this possible, and if I may say so harder than I worked. Unlike the proverbial jack of all trades, she was actually the master of each one. The next is Disha Gupta, the girl with the golden touch, who walked into sponsorship meetings and did magic to convince the people in charge to agree to sponsor the event. A success rate of almost hundred percent does earn her the title of most envied member in the committee, with the envy coming from my side as well. Next in line, the girl who almost single handedly handled the entire responsibility for the website and saved the committee some precious cash, Monika Agarwal, who has earned my admiration with tenacity and hard work that have exceeded my expectations. Hats off to her as well. Last but not the least, two friends, Abhishek Gupta and Swati Kant, who held their cool and believed in the fest when every one around was losing their faith, I can’t thank either of them enough as well. Needless to say the fest would not have been possible without even one of these awesome people and I would like to put it in writing that it has been an honour to have worked with both of them.

Some more people that I would like to thank are Professor Bhanu Murthy, the present Dean and Dr. Kavita Sharma, the MIB course co ordinator who helped us with the financial aspect when it seemed as though all was lost and became the heroes by giving us a ray of hope when it seemed dark all around. Neither of them can be thanked enough and I hope that they will help the fest to become an even bigger event in the years to come.

Names of all the event managers and volunteers are mentioned in various places and for lack of space I am unable to name each and every one, but my heart felt thanks to each and every one of them.

Talking about the future, it is as uncertain as ever, with the future batches of MIB and MHROD to decide what to do with the fest, whether to make it bigger or let it go down the drain, but well that hopefully will have a more positive ring from the next year onwards.

I wont talk about what the fest has come to mean for me, for no word in the english language can explain the feeling of creating something out of nothing and even ecstasy fails to live up to the expectations that I have from the dictionary. I will rather conclude here, wishing Kutumbkam all the very best for the years to come.

And to conclude, I would like to say that I hope I have been able to give what is termed in the Vedas as Guru Dakshina to my college by ensuring that a precedent for a management fest is set so that Department of Commerce becomes a famous entity in the years to come. And with this I sign out on behalf of the Fest Committee this year………….. Hope to return during Kutumbkam 2011 which will definitely be bigger and better than the one this year.

Regards
Neerav Sood
